Besides trying out different cuisines, i am interested in a variety of topics. Essentially, i like to read everything i can lay my hands on. Some of my favorite magazines are IEEE Spectrum, Popular mechanics, Scientific American and National Geographic.
If i have to narrow my focus to a few topics, they would be:
If i have to narrow my focus to a few topics, they would be:
- Engine Emissions: This is my current research topic. I am trying to measure ash particle emissions from a John Deere 4045T diesel engine.
- Product Design: Product design is something which i enjoy doing immensely. I try to re-design products we use in our day to day life and see if i can make them more functional or aesthetically pleasing. Most of the time they are hand sketched, sometimes i use Solidworks.
- Analyzing complex problems: Analyzing complex problems is my favorite way to co-relate completely disjoint events/objects. One fine day in 11th grade, i took a big chart paper and made a pretty elaborate co-relation between how and where black money is spent and how it affects our economy.
- Programming: Programming is the future and i firmly believe that every engineer should know basic programming skills. Currently, i have taken an algorithms class and i am also learning Java.
- Manufacturing: Manufacturing is going to be the key to the future. As we run out of resources and there is scarcity of energy, optimal and efficient manufacturing processes would be crucial. Here, robotics would play a very dominant role as we move in the next decade.
- The Future: Encompasses Everything. The environment, self driving cars, Google glass, solar powered homes, bionic limbs. Welcome to the future.
